This Foxtrot comic (now only available via archive.org) just about says it all. Voting machines can be hacked and have no paper trail and yet they will be used in 1/3 of the voting precincts this election. How comforting. Thanks for all that reform after Florida, Congress.
My opinion about electronic voting is that it is a good idea to automate things. However…there should be a paper trail where each vote has a unique identifier printed on it. You could put the slip in a box and give one to the voter. Simple. Verifiable. Recountable.
Btw, I will be posting a politically-focused item each day until November 7th. I figure that two weeks out of two years is not too much of an annoyance for those of you who disagree or don’t give a rat’s patoot either way.

Great idea to post on a political topic every day until the election. (Unless I disagree with your points, in which case don’t be surprised to see a flood of comment spam from my IP address. Just kidding.) Hard to believe the election is almost 1 week away. Yikes.
