Olbermann on the signing of the detainee act and the death of habeus corpus
Throw ‘em out. All of them. Seriously.
The Congress has supported almost all of Bush’s hyper-spending agenda and the country is so clearly going in the wrong direction. We are now the world’s largest debtor nation. More American soldiers have died in Iraq than those who died on 9/11. Bush and this Congress have heavily mortgaged the future of my grandchildren by spending way more than we have with impunity. I believe it was Dick Cheney who said “deficits don’t matter”. Their actions are evidence of that belief. Whoever thought that our own National Guard troops would be sent around the world to fight wars on foreign soil?
The terror detainee bill which Bush just signed is a blight on this nation. If the entire world is your battlefield (including our own soil), then the word “war” has a different meaning than it has ever been given in the past. This has frightening implications for the interpretation of our Constitution.
